Learni Cat Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026; effective date: November 4, 2026
This Policy applies to the Learni Cat Android app and website. It explains how we handle personal information. Learni Cat serves users in the United States and other regions; our core production server is located in Singapore.
1. Operator and Contact
Learni Cat is operated by the Learni Cat Operations Team (“we,” “us,” or “our”). You can contact us at:
- Privacy requests: support@learnicat.com
- Support and copyright concerns: support@learnicat.com
- In the app: Me → Contact Us
2. Information We Process
Depending on the features you use, we may process:
- Account and sign-in information: account identifier, username, email address, phone number if provided, nickname, avatar, and account, authentication, and security status information.
- Study content: class transcripts, notes, summaries, AI conversations, imported documents and materials, images, practice questions, answers, grading results, projects, and class records. Content you submit may contain personal information you choose to include.
- Audio and files: class recordings may be stored on your device. When you use transcription or live-audio features, audio or audio segments may be routed through our server to the speech provider configured for that request. Uploaded materials, support-ticket attachments, and note images are processed in server-side file storage.
- Retrieval and AI operations data: document chunks and embeddings, AI request purpose and status, and error details. RAG operation logs may contain your query and matching source excerpts.
- Purchase and credit records: order identifier, product, amount, currency, status, payment-provider transaction identifier, credit balance, and credit changes. Available payment providers may include Dodo Payments and PayPal. When you select a provider, we send the account email, checkout name and purchase identifiers needed to process your purchase. The selected provider handles the payment and billing information you enter in its checkout. Learni Cat does not store payment card or bank-account details.
- Support information: feedback, support-ticket messages, and attachments.
- Technical and security information: IP address, request time, device platform and app version, operation/error/security logs, and information needed to prevent abuse.
- Local device and browser data: language, settings, cache, and sign-in session information. The website stores sign-in session data in the browser; class recordings may also remain on your device.
3. How We Use Information
We use this information to:
- Create and maintain accounts, authenticate sign-in, and sync study content across devices;
- Provide transcription, Q&A, note organization, library search, practice generation, and grading;
- Store materials and images you choose to upload and build retrieval indexes;
- Process purchases, manage credits, and respond to support requests;
- Maintain security, troubleshoot failures, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations; and
- Improve service reliability where permitted by law.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing needed to provide requested account and learning features is based on performance of our service agreement; security and troubleshooting rely on legitimate interests where permitted; mandatory records rely on legal obligations. Where consent is required, including for recording or minors’ data, it must be obtained before processing. You may contact us to withdraw consent where applicable, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
We do not sell personal information or use your study content for cross-context targeted advertising.
4. AI and Audio Processing
When you use an AI feature, the prompt, transcript, document excerpts, image, or answer needed for that request is sent to the AI provider configured for it. Library search uses document chunks and embeddings; a query and matching source excerpts may be recorded in retrieval logs and sent to an AI provider to answer your question.
The currently enabled server AI services are Google Gemini, OpenRouter and SiliconFlow, used for configured generation, transcription and retrieval tasks, including embeddings and reranking. Only content needed for the relevant request is sent. Provider configuration may change; this Policy will be updated to reflect material changes. Each provider handles the information it receives under its own privacy and data-processing terms. Do not submit material that you are not authorized to share or do not want processed by the applicable provider.
Transcription and live-audio features transmit the audio needed for the request to our server and the applicable speech provider over an encrypted connection. The current server transcription endpoint processes request audio in memory and does not intentionally write raw transcription audio to its service file directory; provider handling and retention remain subject to that provider’s policies. Transcripts are saved as class records. Whether a device-local recording remains on your device depends on your device and app actions.
5. Recipients and International Processing
We may disclose information needed to provide the Service to:
- Cloud infrastructure: Alibaba Cloud in Singapore, which hosts the core Learni Cat backend, database, and file storage.
- Authentication: self-hosted Logto for accounts and sign-in, running on Learni Cat infrastructure.
- AI providers: selected by feature and active configuration for transcription, generation, embeddings, and retrieval-based answers.
- Payment provider: Dodo Payments or PayPal, when selected and available, for purchases, payment verification and refunds. Their own privacy policies apply to information entered in their checkout.
- Email delivery: Resend delivers backend verification emails, including account-deletion codes. Self-hosted Logto sends sign-in emails through Resend’s SMTP service. Recipient email addresses, email content and necessary delivery metadata are processed by Resend to deliver these messages.
- Authorities legally entitled to receive information, or a successor in a merger, acquisition, or reorganization, to the extent permitted or required by law.
Core account and study records, including transcripts, AI conversations, retrieval indexes and purchase records, are stored in PostgreSQL on our Singapore infrastructure. Uploaded files are stored on the server’s local persistent filesystem; no object-storage service is currently used. AI, payment, or email providers may process information outside Singapore, including in China, the United States or other countries. Using those features may therefore involve international transfers. The providers’ own policies and applicable laws govern copies they retain or use. We do not sell study content to providers for advertising.
6. Retention and Deletion
-
We keep account and study information while needed to provide the Service, until you delete the content or request account deletion. The handling time for an individual item depends on the relevant in-app feature.
-
Account deletion has a 7-day revocable period. Account use after an initial 30-minute safeguard and before the 7-day deadline cancels the request under the current authentication flow. After it expires, we clear account-associated information from Learni Cat’s active account systems and file storage.
-
Automatic retention for AI and RAG operation logs is currently set to 90 days, with a cleanup task scheduled every six hours, and may be changed by server configuration. If automatic cleanup is disabled, logs may be kept longer. These logs may contain queries and matching source excerpts.
-
Security and enforcement records: investigating unauthorized API relays, credential theft, attacks, fraud or other abuse may involve relevant account identifiers, necessary request and security logs, restriction reasons and appeal records. The scope and retention period depend on whether a risk remains, whether appeals or disputes are resolved, and legal obligations or the need to establish or defend claims. Enforcement is not a reason to retain unrelated study content indefinitely.
-
Support records and attachments: retained for the period necessary to resolve the request, complete follow-up communications and handle related disputes. We consider whether the ticket is closed, whether the issue recurs, whether attachments still need verification, and applicable legal requirements.
-
General server logs and administrator audit records: retention depends on troubleshooting, security traceability, operational accountability and applicable law. Audit records may include account identifiers and action summaries. Backups, support records, general server logs and administrator audit records do not have a single automatic deletion period expressed in a fixed number of days. We determine retention by the purposes and necessity described here rather than promising a uniform automated cleanup schedule. When personal information is no longer necessary for these purposes, it is deleted or anonymized as required by law; where retention is legally required or deletion is temporarily impossible, processing is limited to necessary storage and security protection.
-
Backup archives: existing backups may contain earlier data and are not erased at the same time as active systems. Their retention depends on disaster-recovery needs, whether a newer valid backup can replace them, and relevant legal obligations. Retained copies in backups are used only for necessary recovery and security. Effective deletion requests must be reapplied during restoration so that deleted personal information is not returned to routine Service use.
-
Account-recreation prevention marker: we retain the deleted account’s identity identifier and deletion time to prevent still-valid sign-in tokens from recreating it. This marker contains no email address, password or study content; its scope is limited by the necessity of preventing recreation and maintaining security. Email support@learnicat.com to ask about retention grounds or request deletion; we will verify the request and handle it under applicable law.
-
The payment provider shown at checkout, AI, email, and other providers may retain their own copies under their policies and applicable law.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on the laws that apply where you live, you may have rights to access, obtain a copy of, correct, delete, or transfer personal information, and, where applicable, opt out of the sale of personal information or sharing for cross-context targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or use study content for cross-context targeted advertising.
Send requests to support@learnicat.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and may reasonably verify your identity. Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent. Where the app supports it, you can delete individual items or request account deletion. Access, correction and export requests are handled through support; this Policy does not promise a self-service export tool.
You can request account deletion on the website at Delete account. Sign in to your account, verify the code sent to your bound email and your current password, and confirm the 7-day deletion request. If you cannot complete verification, contact support for identity verification assistance. Cancel any recurring subscription with its payment provider separately.
8. Children and Minors
The Service Terms require users to be 14 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 14. If you believe a child under 14 has provided personal information to us, contact support@learnicat.com. Users under 18 must use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Class recordings may capture teachers, classmates, or minors; before recording, you must obtain the consent required by applicable law and school rules.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS to protect information in transit, along with user-level access controls and operational permission controls. No network or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. If a security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will provide notice and take remedial steps as required.
10. Changes
We will publish updated versions and their effective dates in the app or on the website. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide advance notice or obtain consent when applicable law requires it.
